Balloonwave
Balloonwave was a term coined by the band to describe the genre of their album Headlunge. After becoming the de facto leaders of the genre, they quickly abandoned it for crab riot, which made its first real appearance on the FIS EP the following year.
Balloonwave is characterized by warm, bellowing synthesizers, buttery guitar, and drums that kind of "stay out of the way." Elements of the genre would continue to surface in future Capyac releases, even as the term was forgotten in subsequent years.
